The spread of avian influenza, bacteria and viruses seriously threatens people’s health, and the outbreak of new emerging infectious diseases also poses a certain threat to global public health security. Therefore, materials with antibacterial properties have a positive effect on preventing the spread of bacteria and viruses.Traditional protective materials, some do not have antibacterial properties. some antibacterial agents were added into material, such as triclosan, peptide, chitosan, and silver nanoparticles, to prevent bacteria and viruses, but the antibacterial performance will be reduced with antibacterial agents reduce. some photosensitizer were added into materials to make materials have stable antibacterial performance, but the light of the need was UV light. Therefore, an antibacterial material that is durable, reusable and suitable for use in the dark is needed.
The key laboratory of textile college of donghua university and the university of California have jointly developed a sunlight-driven, recyclable antimicrobial and antiviral nanofiber membrane for biological protection materials. The results show that the electrospun nanofibers are combined with the active photosensitizer of sunlight. Photoactive nanofiber membrane can store biocide activity under light irradiation and release reactive oxygen species under dark or dark conditions. Nano-fiber membrane has the character of rapid generation of reactive oxygen species, easy storage, long-term durability and good biological killing effect. It can kill bacteria and viruses rapidly and effectively under both light and dark conditions。
